Handbook to be developed to ease introduction of ECTS credits

Twinning project implemented the first mission under the Activity 4.4 Review the legal and regulatory framework for recognition and, if required, submit recommendations to comply with European best practices of the Twinning project from 3 to 7 February, 2020.

The mission under the above Activity was carried out by Jean-Luc Lamboley, retired professor of Lion 2 University of France.

The objective of the mission was to develop a handbook which would facilitate the introduction of ECTS credits in teaching process by Azerbaijani universities. The document also aims to ease recognition of ECTS credits obtained during study periods abroad by local universities, thus contributing to student mobility.

To this end, Mr. Lamboley carried out a deskwork to review relevant documents regulating teaching process at higher educations and also met with representatives of structural units of pilot universities responsible for the student mobility and recognition of ECTS credits to find out the challenges that they experience in this field.

Mr. Lamboley also met the staff members of the Science, Higher and Secondary Professional Education Department of the Ministry of Education in order to gain an insight into the current state of introduction of credit system in local universities.

As a result of the mission, the Twinning expert will develop a handbook on implementation of ECTS credits and submit to the Ministry of Education.
