The first
mission under the Activity 3.7 Undertake a mock accreditation at each pilot
university for a study programme in a priority area of the Twinning project was implemented from 28 October
to 2 November 2019.
The mission
was implemented by Ms. Jolita Butkiene, Director of Quality Center at ISM University of Management and
Economics
of Lithuania and Mr. Audrius Lopata, Professor at Kaunas University of Technology of
Lithuania.
The purpose
of the mission was to perform a mock evaluation of Computer Engineering study
programme in four pilot universities of the Twinning project – Azerbaijan State
Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Baku Engineering
University and Sumgait State University.
The team of
experts who was involved in mock evaluation of the above-said study programme
consisted of two field experts (one local and one EU expert), two Quality
Assurance experts (one local and one EU expert), a student and an employer.
On the
first day of the mission week the experts gathered in Accreditation Department
of the Ministry of Education to discuss the self-evaluation reports of Computer
Engineering programs submitted by the pilot HEIs and other relevant documents
in preparation for the mock evaluations.
Later, the
experts' panel made a one-day site visit to each of the four universities.
Interviews were held with the senior management, the academic staff who
developed the self-evaluation members, students as well as representatives of
employers. The experts also toured various facilities, auditoriums and
computer labs in order to evaluate the infrastructure used for teaching of the
Computer Engineering study programmes.
As a result
of the mock evaluation, a final evaluation report on each of the four study
programmes evaluated will be developed by the experts’ panel giving
recommendations for further improvements.
The mock
evaluation of other study programmes selected as pilots by the Twinning project
will be performed within the upcoming weeks.
