The fifth mock
evaluation of selected study programmes under the Activity 3.7 Undertake a mock accreditation at each pilot university
for a study program in a priority area of the Twinning project was
implemented during the mission that lasted from 9 to 13 December 2019.
The mission
was implemented by Ms. Jolita Butkiene, Head of Quality Center at the ISM
University of Economics and Management and Mr. Boris Misnevs, Professor and
Program Director at Transport and Telecommunications Institute of Latvia.
The purpose
of the mission was to perform a mock evaluation of Informatics teacher study
programme in three pilot universities of the Twinning project – Baku State
University (BSU), Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (ASPU) and Sumgait
State University (SSU).
The mock
evaluation of the programme was implemented by a panel of experts composed of two
field experts (one local and one EU expert), two Quality Assurance experts (one
local and one EU expert), a student and an employer.
On the
first day of the mission week the experts gathered in Accreditation Department
of the Ministry of Education to discuss the self-evaluation reports of Informatics
teacher programs submitted by pilot universities and drafted and shared the
questions to be addressed to the university staff during the site visits.
Later, the
experts panel made a one-day site visit to each of those three universities.
Interviews were held with the senior management, the academic staff who
developed the self-evaluation members, students, alumni as well as
representatives of employers. The experts’ panel also toured various
auditoriums, library of the university and computer labs in order to evaluate
the infrastructure used for teaching of the study programme.
As a result
of the mock evaluation, a final evaluation report on each of the three study
programmes will be developed by the experts’ panel giving recommendations for
further improvements of the program.
The mock
evaluation of other study programmes in two more fields, selected as pilots by
the Twinning project, Computer Science and Foreign Language Teacher, will be
performed within the upcoming weeks.
