Parellel missions on student-centered learning and doctoral studies implemented

            Another mission within the Twinning project Support to strengthening the higher education system in Azerbaijan was implemented on 24-28 June 2019.
            Mr. Murad Attarca Director of Continuous Education Departament of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University, Ms.  Ilona Kazlauskaitė, Director of International Cooperation Department of Vytautas Magnus University of Lithuania, and Ms. Ilva Grigoryeva, an expert at Academic Information Centre of Latvia paid a visit to Azerbaijan within the Component II Pilot Study programmes in priority sectors are improved to be more student-centred of the project.
            The purpose of the mission was to the organize workshops on student-centred approach in pilot higher education institutions.   
            Representatives of Baku State University, Azerbaijan Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Azerbaijan Technical University and Khazar University took part in the workshops organized within the mission. Project experts shared the best practices in the field of student-centred approach in higher education institutions of their countries and learned about the practices in local higher education institutions.
            Over 100 university representatives took part in the workshops. At the end of the mission, experts provided recommendations on improving the student-centred approach in local universities.
            Another mission was held within the Component IV Recommendations on amendments of legislative and regulative framework developed of the project. Vice-rector for Research and innovations of Kaunas Technology University Mr. Leonas Balasevicius visited Azerbaijan for the mission.
             The purpose of the mission was to review and to provide recommendations on how to improve the legislation in the field of doctoral studies in Azerbaijan. The expert worked with the relevant representatives of the Science, Higher and Secondary Specialized Education Department of the Ministry of Education and developed comprehensve recommendations on the establishment of doctoral studies on the basis of European Credit Transfer System.
