Another
mission within the Twinning project Support to strengthening the higher
education system in Azerbaijan was implemented from 17-21 June 2019.
Jolita
Butkiene, Head of Quality Centre of ISM University of Economic and Management
of Lithuania, Nora Skaburskiene, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Vilnius
Gediminas Technical University of Lithuania and Jolanta Silka, Deputy Director of the Quality Agency for Higher
Education of Latvia visited Baku within Component 3 of the Twinning Project titled
Quality Assurance System is Further Developed to Reflect the Student-Centeredness
of Study Programmes.
The purpose
of the mission was to support the pilot higher education institutions at the
next stage of writing self-evaluation reports for the selected study
programmes.
Meetings
were held with the university representatives engaged in the self-evaluation
report writing for the pilot study programmes (Chemical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Physics, Computer Sciences, Foreign Language Teacher, Informatics/Math
Teacher) during the mission.
All the
meetings were held at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University. The Twinning
Project experts had a separate meeting with each group engaged in the
self-evaluation report writing, had discussions on the second version of the
self-evaluation report, and provided their recommendations to further improve
the reports.
It should
be noted that Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University,
Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan Technical University,
Baku Engineering University, Sumgait State University and Khazar University are
part of this pilot initiative. Working groups were established for each pilot
study programme offered at the universities, and those WGs wrote self-evaluation
reports in two stages and delivered them in English. Final reports are expected in mid-July.
Pilot
accreditation of the aforementioned study programmes of pilot universities is
planned in autumn this year within the Twinning Project.
There were
two previous missions to Baku in connection with this pilot process.
